With the World Cup kick-off in June, luxury shirt-maker Karl Dunkley has launched a range of formal shirts reflecting national teams.
Dunkley, 45, whose first job was selling shirts in Harrods at 16, approached Global Brands, licensee for FIFA, last year and showed them his Grosvenor Shirt designs.
Now he is selling £200 limited edition shirts for each qualifying country and says he hopes to attract interest for other sports. He says: ‘I designed a South Africa shirt for a customer and it looked fabulous.
‘I realised there was mileage in it – if you are a football fan you might not want a replica team shirt in the VIP section.’
He adds: ‘I am keeping in contact with Global Brands. It might attract people from a wholesale point of view for football, golf or cricket.’
