The Cultural Leadership Programme has released a list of 50 Women to Watch after a search for the cultural sector’s top 50 future female leaders.
The top 50 includes Cathy Woolley, Participation Producer for the Southbank Centre; Jacqui O Hanlon, director of education for the Royal Shakespeare Company; and Pim Baxter, deputy director and director of communications and development for the National Portrait Gallery.
Jenni Murray OBE (pictured), presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and chair of Women to Watch judging panel said: ‘There are nowhere near enough women in positions of power and influence, whether it be in the cultural and creative industries or other sectors. We need to do everything we can to enable and encourage the next generation.’
Established leaders all over the UK were invited to nominate women who have already made a noticeable impact within the sector and have the potential to rise to the top.
Jenni Murray OBE added: ‘The inaugural list of ‘Women to Watch’ will not only give a new generation of women the confidence to aim higher but also serve as a challenge to cultural organisations and creative businesses that need to improve in this area.’
