Hannah Green, 16, has just finished her GCSEs. She discusses her plans for the future with FMWF.
What subjects have you chosen for your AS/A-levels?
English, History, French and Economics.
Have you decided whether you want to take a gap year or not?
I think it is something I will decide depending on university offers. I would love to go travelling though.
What would you like to do in the future?
I think I would like to do something with English, possibly journalism. However I think things will change as I get older.
Have you ever thought how you would plan a gap year financially?
I would probably work for six months, or perhaps get jobs whilst I am travelling, depending on how difficult it would be to get a temp job in each place I visited.
Where would you go travelling?
I would definitely go to South Africa and Australia because I have family there. I would also like to do something in America like drive along route 66 or visit the Amazon in South America.
Do you think the recession would prohibit you from travelling?
I think it may be a lot harder to fund it as a lot of people are looking for jobs at the moment. Who knows what it will be like when the time comes to actually travel though.
Are you looking forward to entering sixth form or is it quite a daunting prospect?
I have heard that the work load really increases in the sixth form which is slightly daunting but I have chosen the subjects that I enjoy so it shouldn’t be too bad. But what is daunting is moving schools as there is a lot to get used to in such a short amount of time. I am very excited to make new friends.
What made you change schools?
I think seven years is a long time to stay at one place when I’m so young. Change perhaps prepares you for the outside world.
