Startups Awards open for entries

In celebration of the importance of small and medium-size enterprises the awards, organised by startups.co.uk, will acknowledge the best fledgling businesses that Britain has to offer.

Women in Business award: Oli Barrett, Natasha Courtenay-Smith (founder of Talk to the Press) and Holly Tucker (co-founder of Notonthehighstreet.com).

The Startups Awards 2010 is now open for entries.

In celebration of the importance of small and medium-size enterprises, the awards – organised by startups.co.uk – will acknowledge the best fledgling businesses that Britain has to offer.

Last year’s winners include online credit lender Wonga, sustainable products firm Go Sustainable, touring theatre production company Three Sixty Entertainment and nuisance call blocker Truecall.

David Lester, startups.co.uk’s founder, says: ‘Each year we unearth a whole set of innovative, disruptive new businesses and entrepreneurs that continue to make people sit up and pay attention to the start-up market.’

The awards contain 16 categories, including Green Business of the Year, Women in Business Award, Product of the Year, Best Use of Technology and Business Plan of the Year.

There are also five new categories this year: Home Business of the Year, Mobile Business of the Year, Franchisee of the Year, Angel/VC Backed Business of the Year and Craft Business of the Year.

The closing date for entries is 3rd September 2010.
