British SMEs predict two year wait for economic recovery
More than half of Britain’s SMEs say we can expect a two year wait before we see a full economic recovery, according to a new study.
Research by small business insurer QBE also found that 84 per cent will not hire more staff this year and half are finding it difficult to access commercial credit.
But this has improved since six months ago when 71 per cent said they thought they would face difficulty if there was no positive economic change, compared to 52 per cent today.

SMEs would be ‘prudent’ to take action on CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
It would be ‘prudent’ for SME’s to take advantage of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (EES) to reduce their energy use, says the Carbon Trust.
The EES is the UK’s mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment).
Harry Morrison, general manager at the Carbon Trust, advises firms that having access to accurate data surrounding their business energy consumption and carbon dioxide uquivalent is an ‘essential part of having an effective CRC strategy’.
He adds: ‘The Conservative Party has been supportive all along and climate change is a key part of their policy agenda, so there is no reason to expect any changes to the CRC’.
