Yes, they are. Full time workers, who work a five day week, are entitled to a minimum of 28 days paid annual leave per year. This includes bank holidays in the total, though employers can ask staff to work on a bank holiday, providing they still give them a minimum of 28 days off.
Part time workers are entitled to the same amount calculated pro rata. So for example, if an employee worked 2.5 days a week, they will be entitled to a minimum of 14 days paid annual leave per annum.
Many companies give more holiday than the statutory minimum to their staff. This generosity has to extend to part time workers too, because of the Part Time Workers Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment legislation. Part timers will be entitled to the same annual leave as their full time colleague – on a pro rata basis.
